Weld Sensing
Through Arc Seam Tracking (TAST). Ensures weld repeatability by compensating for positional and/or shape deviations along the joints. TAST independently controls compensation for lateral and vertical variations by monitoring welding current variations and can be used for both linear and circular movements.
It has a highly effective and widely used feature for multipass welding, tracking the path of the root pass, memorizing the information, and reproducing subsequent passes with the defined offset parameters. TAST only works for corner or chamfer joints and when operating with the robot's weave feature.

(A) Arrow 1 - original torch trajectory; arrow 2 - actual joint situation; (B) Current measurement: L - left side, with I = 220A, C - center, with I = 180A, R - right, with I = 160A. As the torch moves transversely in “weave” movements, it automatically adjusts the trajectory; (C) Multi-pass welding: root pass information memorized and passed on to the next two passes through parameters defined for “off-set”.
